Islam is the main religion in the country and plays a big role. It affects decisions made by the government and therefore has a major impact in Yemen

65% of the Islamic population are Sunni
Arrival of Islam:
Islam arrived in Yemen while Muhammad was still arrived. It was first introduced around the year 630 A.D.
